It’s a sad fact of life that bad wine happens to good people. Try as we may to avoid it, sometimes a bad bottle finds its way into our homes, offices, SUV consoles, or middle school teachers lounges. When life gives you lemons, you know what to do, but when life gives you bad wine, CocktailsAt7 has your back.
For my bad wine spritzer, I used a bottle of sweet blackberry wine that had been sitting around collecting dust for a couple of years, some Simply Lemonade, and a type of bourbon that shall remain nameless. Any bourbon will do for this task. Just don’t use the Pappy.
Bad Wine Spritzer
- 1/2 glass bad (sweet) red wine
- 1/4 glass lemonade
- a splash of good bourbon, or bad bourbon. Whatever.
Fill a wine glass with ice and pour bad wine, lemonade, and bourbon over the ice. Stir well and garnish with blueberries.
I’m ashamed to admit what kind of bourbon I used to elevate this bad wine into something palatable. Most Kentuckians, myself included, consider mixing good bourbon with bad wine (or with anything at all, for that matter), a sin punishable by banishment. What can I say? I don’t keep bad bourbon on hand anymore. This isn’t the KD house, circa 1998, and I am fresh out of Kentucky Gentleman.
